Mona Louise Rey, 16 years old sister of actress and vlogger Ivana Alawi opened up about her battle with diabetes.
In Ivana’s latest YouTube vlog, she was joined by her sister Mona after being ‘absent’ on her vlogs recently. During the vlog, they shared the reason of her ‘absence’ as Mona opened up about her battle with diabetes. According to them, Mona was hospitalized several times.
“I’m type one diabetic and for a while, hindi talaga controlled yung sugar ko even though nagtutusok naman kami. Recently, hindi ako okay. Alam mo yung nagkakasakit ako? Nag-start din ako dito sa pump. And then dun umokay na yung sugar ko for the first time in ten years… Kasi dati lagi akong high, 300 or 400. And ngayon, nasa normal na ako which is 90 to 140 ganun…” Mona shared.
“Pwede pa sa akin yun kasi nagbibigay naman ng insulin. 120 normal kapag normal ka. Pero 140 kapag sa diabetic, normal yun… After nun, nagkaroon ng problem yung nerves ko kasi nagulat yung katawan ko… Sanay kasi sila sa mataas na sugar. So yung nerves ko, nagulat sila tapos nagkaroon ako ng diabetic neuropathy. Pero I will get better. Hindi naman siya incurable…it will take some time para umokay ako…” Mona added.
Later on, Ivana shared that the reason why Mona is not present in her vlogs recently. Ivana shared that they never forced Mona to be in the vlogs because they wanted her to get better. Ivana also shared that Mona was hospitalized several times.
“Ilang beses siya naospital nung pandemic. Tapos alam mo yun, hindi kami, hindi ako makadalaw. Pero isang beses, dumalaw ako. Wala akong pakialam, wala akong trabaho. Tapos nag-PPE ako tapos nagpunta ako dun sa room nila… Kasi ilang beses na siyang na-ospital dati. So ngayon, umookay na,” Ivana shared.
