Kapuso actress Jennylyn Mercado expressed her opinion that frontliners are the modern heroes and not the people in government. According to Jennylyn, government officials are expected to promote the welfare of the country and should not be commended because that is already expected of them.
For Jennylyn, the true heroes are the doctors, nursesm teachers, soldiers and other frontliners.

“The role of the government is to promote the welfare of this country sa kahit ano mang sitwasyon. That is why any progress or positive action na nagawa nila ay hindi na kailangan bigyang puri dahil ‘yun naman talaga ang trabaho nila.
Ang mga tao na dapat bigyang pugay ay ang ating mga makabagong bayani. Maraming salamat sa ating mga doctors, nurses, teachers, mga sundalo, at ang iba pang mga frontliners na patuloy ang serbisyo sa ating mga Pilipino.
