Jose Mari Chan: “Please do not call me Father of Chrismas music”

As the ‘ber’ months starts, the name of Jose Mari Chan is again being mentioned by almost everyone. For the simple reason that Chan has recorded a number of Christmas songs that has become very popular over the years.

Chan’s Christmas carols can be heard being played in radio stations, shopping malls, and more.

In an interview with OneNes Ph with Ed Lingao and Gretchen Ho, Chan was how he felt everytime he was referred to as the ‘Father of Christmas Music.”

“I sincerely say please do not call me “Father Of Christmas Music. Because long before you and I were born, there were hundreds of Christmas songs composed here in the Philippines.” said Chan..

“Absolutely not, no no no. But for my songs to be associated with the Christmas season, that is a blessing… Imagine, that song Christmas in Our Hearts is 32 years old, and it continues to be sung and appreciated and loved by our countrymen – young and old alike.” Chan added.

“And so it is blessing and I am truly honored that until now my songs remain a favorite during the Christmas season.” Chan said.
