Julia Barretto shares disadvantage of being a “Barretto”

Actress Julia Barretto opened up about the disadvantage of being a “Barretto” in the showbiz industry.

In an online interview with movie and television writer G3 San Diego on her YouTube account, G3 and Julia talked about being a “Barretto”. One question asked by G3 “ano naman yung mga disadvantage ng pagiging in your family.”

To which Julia answered “well G, nothing. But I think in terms of being in the same industry. It was very hard. I think people always have that notion na ‘Ok anak yan ng artista so mas madali’. They think it’s easier G but honestly it is so so hard. Because there’s so much pressure and the comparison is until your last project in your career. Until you grow old. And you know for a while you’ll be on a shadow and you have so much to prove before you can get out on that shadow and you have to prove why you deserve to be in the industry, why you’re in the industry and why you’re not just there because of the last name. It’s so hard G and you know I had to face all of that at the very young age of 15, 16 where you know in fact in reality dapat nga I’m just in highschool going into college. I don’t have hear the opinions of others have to get this kind of pressure but you know, I think nasa dugo talaga naming yung pagiging artista or actress. I fell into that path.”

She added “I think I just took the challenge and I just you know let it motivate me instead of make it a burden. Siguro sabe ko, ‘you know what I just make it motivate me’ prove to people na you know I love what I do and I wanna show them why I deserve to be here. Why I deserve to get all of these projects. So sabi ko nalang ‘ok gagalingan ko nalang at hindi ko nalang ididisappoint para hangang sa after generation ko’. Tuloy-tuloy parin, but yun lang. But Other than that, you would wanna be a Barretto”.
