Mika dela Cruz is contributing to the fight against the coronavirus by providing face shields to market vendors. Market vendors have been playing a crucial yet mostly unseen role in the distribution of fresh produce to people in quarantine.
The actress acknowledged their hard work and efforts in an Instagram post, where she said, “today was dedicated to all our palengke vendors.. salamat po sa araw araw niyong pagsasakripisyo, kundi po dahil sainyo wala po kaming makakain (Thank you for your day to day sacrifices; if not for your work then we will not have anything to eat).”

(A lot of these market vendors do not have protection and almost all of them are elderly vendors…they do not even have face masks or gloves.)

(They only have their immune systems to rely on, to hope that they don’t get infected. Social distancing seems impossible in their line of work due to the number of people in the market as well as the nature of their livelihood. Thank you! You are our superheroes.)
