During the ABS-CBN franchise renewal hearing, Rep. Michael Defensor questioned ABS-CBN chairman Mark Lopez and ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak if they asked for help to Actress and Host Kris Aquino for the renewal of the network during the time of Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino III as a president.
Both executives answered that they never spoke to Kris about the network’s franchise renewal during the Aquino administration.

On her Instagram account, a netizen asked the opinion of Kris as her name was mentioned during the network’s hearing.
“Hi tita Kris ano po comment nyo about sa pag mention sayo kahapon sa abs cbn hearing? I was amazed po dahil di mag power trip and abs cbn considering na talent po nila ikaw nung 2014. More power to u and God bless po”
Kris Aquino replied: “none- i didn’t see it… i was busy doing a Zoom business meeting.”
