Earlier this July, ABS-CBN Films’ managing director Olivia Lamasan announced that out of 300 celebrities for the role, Jane has been chosen to play the role of the Pinay superheroine for its upcoming movie adaptation.
Before Jane, Angel Locsin was first tapped to play the role but the actress later backed out because of her spine injury.
Actress Liza Soberano was then chosen to replace Angel but the 21-year-old actress also withdrew from the project because of her finger injury.
Both Angel and Liza have expressed their support for Jane over social media for being chosen as the new Darna.
