Maxene also shared some of ‘embarrassing episodes’ of her life as she admitted that she is a ‘chronic people pleaser’ in the past.

“Ahh, self-love 🥰 A topic that is truly so near and dear to my heart 💝

I see self-love as medicine for the soul. It is what we need to be able to become fully self-sufficient human beings. Based on my personal experience, it’s really true what they say—you cannot pour from an empty cup. I used to give all of my energy to others while completely forgetting to leave some for myself because I was a chronic people pleaser. I always did what others expected from me because I was scared that they wouldn’t love or accept me if I didn’t. Even if deep down I didn’t want to do what they would ask of me, I would just say yes to “keep the peace.” 🥴 As a result, I found myself full of resentment and rage which was why I would get into the most unattractive emotional outbursts and adult tantrums. 🤦🏻♀️

Thankfully, bec of those embarrassing episodes, my higher consciousness dragged my ass to therapy which was the beginning of my self-healing journey. This was when I started to truly love & accept myself for all that I am.

Self-love isn’t just loving the things that you like about yourself. It is about embracing and learning to hold space for every part of your being. Acknowledging not just your good attributes but also admitting and accepting your toxic traits and habits. By facing your inner demons or the things that you tend to deny and run away from, you will be able to transform negative energy into positive energy. By integrating your darkness, you will be able to shine your light even more.

So as an act of true, radical self-love, I am posting these unedited & unfiltered photos of me. I used to edit my photos especially when my belly is protruding or if my stretch marks & cellulite are visible. Now, I don’t do any of that bec I love and respect myself enough to honor whoever I am in the present moment. Besides, if you can fully accept all your flaws, who can ever use them against you?
