Netizens called the attention of ABS-CBN program “Maalaala Mo Kaya” or MMK for using the sacred praying mat as door mat on its latest episode.
Netizens posted screenshots of the said scene and criticized MMK for the disrespect.
The MMK production team released a statement apologizing for their lapses. On its official Instagram page, they express deep regrets and said it was an honest mistake and offer no excuse for the lapse in production:
“MMK expresses deep regrets for a scene in last Saturday’s episode that may have offended its Muslim viewers.
It was an honest mistake and we offer no excuse for this lapse in production.
We thank our viewers for the feedback and promise to do better.”
