Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Chair Lala Sotto-Antonio stand firm on the agencies decision to issue a Notice to Appear and Testify to the producers of It’s Showtime.
The agency received complains about alleged indecent acts done by it’s host Vice Ganda and Ion Perez during the segment “Isip Bata.”
In her interview with entertainment columnist Cristy Fermin, Lala explained that the agency has been fair to everyone and added that they have served a number of warnings to the said show:
“Nagsimula po ang lahat ng ito dahil sa problema na natanggap namin at mula rin po sa monitoring inspection unit namin, which is yung naging paglabag sa mga alintuntunin ng MTRCB na paglabag sa Presidential Decree No.1986 ng programang It’s Showtime. Nakarating din po sa amin na meron pong konting mga reklamo na nagsasabi na ako raw po ay unfair o hindi patas dahil hindi ko raw ipinapatawag ang E.A.T.” started Lala.
“Wala pong dahilan para ipatawag ang E.A.T. dahil hindi po sila deserving of a notice to appear. Ang binigyan namin ng notice to appear ay ang programang It’s Showtime that is rated PG, it is a live noontime variety show that is automatically rated PG.” Lala added.
“Ang klasipikasyong PG, which is Parental Guidance, ay nagkaroon ng paglabag, lalo na at may mga maliliit na bata who were physically present, maliban sa mga batang nanonood mula sa kani-kanilang tahanan na wala namang bantay lahat. Yun po yung naging problema sa It’s Showtime. That is why nagbigay po kami sa kanila ng notice to appear base sa aming sariling monitoring inspection unit and the proliferation of complaints.” Lala said.
“Ang programang It’s Showtime, I hope they don’t take it personally, lalo na yung kanilang supporters. Naiintindihan ko po yun dahil ako ay lumaki sa isang noontime show. I believe the board has been very tolerant, napakahaba po ng aming pisi. Kung alam niyo lang ilang notices na po ang aming ipinadala sa kanila, nakailang warning na rin sila dahil meron po silang mga violations sa lengguwahe, paulit-ulit po yon.” stated Lala.
“May nip slip pa, hindi naman namin sila binigyan ng notice to appear para diyan. Because like I’ve said, I’ve been very tolerant, I’ve been very understanding and patient, ngunit binibigyan sila ng warning at stern warning.” added Lala.
“Ngayon po, ito ay hindi po namin talaga puwedeng palampasin, magalit na kung sino man ang magagalit.” Lala said.
