Nadine Lustre backs out of “Miracle in Cell No. 7”, Bela Padilla to fill in the role

After being announced as the lead star in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry “Miracle in Cell no. 7”, Nadine Lustre withdrew from the project “due to persistent medical concerns”.

According to a report by ABS-CBN News, MMFF official Noel Ferrer confirmed that Viva Films requested for changes in their film which also stars Aga Muhlach.

Part of Viva’s letter states: “Miss [Nadine] Lustre has begged off the project due to medical concerns and her resulting inability to perform her duties as an actress during the shoot up to the promotion of the film.”

Actress Bela Padilla was then revealed to replace Nadine in the project as MMFF stated: “We believe that Bela Padilla is an excellent actress and a bankable star and she will significantly contribute to the film’s artistry and commercial success.”

“Miracle in Cell no. 7” is a 2013 South Korean hit movie that tells a story of a mentally challenged man who was wrongfully imprisoned for murder. His friends who was staying with him inside the cell will then help him see his young daughter by sneaking her inside the prison.

The original Korean movie starred Ryu Seung-ryong, Kal So-won, and Park Shin-hye.
