Netizens had mixed reactions when TV broadcaster uttered the words ‘bronze lang’ upon learning that pool magician Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes got bronze in his quest for gold in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
Efren was defeated by Vietnam’s Dinh Nai Ngo in the 1-cushion carom event at the Manila Hotel. Efren scored only 14 in the race for 100.

The comment got mixed reactions from netizens – some said it was so arrogant and disrespectful of Kabayan Noli to question the achievement made by Efren, but there are those who said that Kabayan Noli may just be as surprised as the others that Efren only landed bronze considering his mastery and greatness in the world of pool.
“Nagtatanong lang si Kabayan at nagtataka din na bronze lang ang nakuha ni Efren,’ said one netizen.
But Efren himself admitted that his chances in landing gold in the carom event was slim for he has not played the game for awhile and that he is getting older and has injury.
