Pangilinan on running against Sotto: “masakit sa akin, masakit for Sharon”

Senator Francis ‘Kiko’ Pangilinan revealed that he had a conversation with fellow VP aspirant Senator Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto a day before he announced his candidacy for the position of Vice President on 2022.

In an interview with Karen Davila for ANC’s “Headstart”, Pangilinan said he told Sotto that it was never his intention to run for VP, but VP Leni Robredo asked him to be her running mate.

“I told him first, thanking him for taking my call, and I said I felt it best to tell him personally over the phone that the plans have changed and it was unexpected. But I felt that VP Leni had to be supported in this announcement and also in ensuring that there is a tandem, that she has a vice-presidential candidate.”

“So, we left it at that and, sabi nga, ganyan talaga nangyayari yan.”

So, of course, ang sabi ko nga, masakit sa akin, masakit for Sharon. Minsan nagiging masakit or emotional, but we pray, we hope that after all is said and done, that for the hurt that this has caused, we seek, we hope for reconciliation and forgiveness for the pain caused.”

Pangilinan made it clear that there was no quarrel better his family and that of Sotto’s family.

“Hindi kami nag-away, walang ganun. Pero maliwanag that Sharon siyempre, lahat nga ng pamilya, pag nagkaroon ng ganung rift, masakit siya.” ended Pangilinan.
