Richard Juan reacts to Derek Ramsay displaying PH flag

Chinese-Filipino TV personality Richard Juan can’t help but react over the viral social media post of celebrity couple Ellen Adarna and Derek Ramsay.

It can be recalled that in Ellen’s Instagram story, she posted a short video of Derek hanging a Philippine flag at the terrace of their home. Derek hung the said flag seemingly directly in front of their neighbor’s house where two red banners with a chinese signs can be seen.

“I like the view [three laughing emoji] #proudpinoy Patriotic [laughing emoji] @ramsayderek07.” Ellen wrote in the said video.

The said video caught the attention of netizens and several personalities including Richard as it went viral.

In Richard’s Twitter account, he expressed his honest thoughts and sentiments as he can’t help but react over the said viral and controversial video.

It seemed that the said action of Derek left a bad impression to Richard as he wrote on his tweet:

“The sad truth is, despite HUNDREDS OF YEARS of history in the Philippines, it’s the unwelcoming actions like this that makes us Chinoys feel like we STILL don’t belong here 😢”

The said tweet of Richard caught the attention of netizens as they expressed their sentiments. Richard addressed the netizens as he wrote:

“I hear yall and I’m sorry for using the wrong words. I acknowledge that Im one of the few privileged but its a fact that many Chinoys who spent most their lives here sometimes feel that they dont truly belong. Eg my WWII vet grandpa who til this day still gets called intsik beho”

“I see many people say that all the major tycoons and biz owners are Chinoys but I don’t think it’s fair to be comparing the experiences + privileges of the 0.1% of the Chinoys to the other 99.9%…that most do not see and are not aware of 🤷♂️”

“But at the same time, I appreciate some of the healthy discussion regarding the historical Chinese-Filipino relationships.

But anyway, I would like to end this discussion with this:

Just because some Chinoys may not have Filipino blood does not mean we are not Pinoy;

Chinoys are Pinoys.”
