The Makati Medical center issued a statement denouncing the alleged breach of protocol made by Senator Koko Pimental who was tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
In a statement posted on MMC official Facebook page, MMC Medical Director Dr. Saturnino Javier said that Pimentel brought his pregnant wife Kathryna to the hospital on Tuesday evening (March 24, 2020) for delivery via caesarean section, despite being tested positive for COVID-19.

“We denounce the irresponsible and reckless action of the senator. He added to the burden of a hospital trying to respond in its most competent and aggressive manner to cope with the daunting challenges of this COVID-19 outbreak,” Javier said.
“By being in MMC, Senator Pimentel violated his Home Quarantine Protocol, enterted the premises of the MMC-DR, thus, unduly exposed healthcare workers to possible infection. As a result, a number of our nurses and doctors may need to be quarantined which will further deplete the dwindling workforce of the hospital.” added Javier.
“By his actions he contributed no solution. In fact, he created another problem – for Makati Medical Center, the very institution which embraced his wife for obstetric care.” said Javier.
