While she has been one of the most tapped actresses to portray the role of Pinay superheroine Darna before the official announcement has been made, actress Nadine Lustre clarified that she did not audition for the role.
In her interview with ABS-CBN News, Nadine gave her reaction after Jane De Leon was announced as the new Pinay superheroine.

She said: “Well, I mean, it’s nice na ‘yung imahe ni Darna ako yung nakikita nila. But I mean, in the very beginning naman po like what I said, I was never expecting and I didn’t audition din naman po so okay lang naman.”
“I mean, I’m really happy na si Jane yung nakuha kasi I’ve seen her a couple of times before [through] common friends. So it’s nice na siya na ‘yung bagong superhero nating lahat,” Nadine added.
