Netizens not pleased by Steve Harvey’s Miss Universe best in national costume announcement

Steve Harvey has been gaining mixed reactions from netizens anew after his supposed mistake in announcing Miss Universe’s best in costume.

After the Top 10 of the pageant was announced, Steve mentioned the pageant’s best in costume where the photo of Philippines’ bet Gazini Ganados was flashed on the screen.

Steve can be heard saying: “Earlier this week, all the contestants competed in the national costume contest. Here is a look at the winner, Philippines.”

After Ganizi’s photo was flashed on the screen, Miss Malaysia appeared on Steve’s side instead of Gazini.

She then told Steve: “It’s not Philippines, it’s Malaysia.”

While it was not clear if the mistake was done on purpose as Steve explained that he just read the teleprompter, some netizens expressed their dismay over the announcement.

One Twitter user wrote: “I’m not a Gazini fan and I know when to accept that we do not deserve to advance in the next round. But, #MissUniverse2019 played the Philippines dirty this time. That short comedy skit about the national costume was unnecessary, too.”

Another user wrote: “Were they mocking the Philippines in the National Costume winner announcement? And Steve didn’t sound apologetic at all. What was thaaaaat? #MissUniverse2019”

Another user expressed disappointment, saying: “Really??? Pulling up the Philippines x Colombia Miss Universe 2015 mistake in the National Costume???? Talaga ba????? It’s not funny Miss Universe Organization. #MissUniverse2019”

It can be remembered that Steve made a mistake in announcing the Miss Universe winner back in 2015 as he called Miss Columbia prior to clarifying that the real winner was Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach.
