QC Mayor Joy Belmonte slams critics of her COVID-19 outbreak measures

On Friday, March 20, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has addressed the negative criticisms of her government’s measures amidst the lockdown in Luzon to avoid further outbreak of the COVID-19 virus.

“To those who hate me, you are under no obligation to accept any of my projects [such as] housing, education, healthcare, social benefits,” Belmonte wrote on her Facebook post. “That means there will be more for those who truly have faith in me as their leader.”

The mayor then urged people to leave out the politics in this time to help the city government and the community in the fight against the COVID-19 virus, and that these critics “show your hatred for me at the polls in 2022.”

Quezon City has been declared a state of calamity since Friday, March 13, and has also since implemented enhanced community quarantine, along with the Luzon-wide lockdown.
