Potato Corner issues an apology for their discriminatory job post

Popular French fries provider Potato Corner issued an apology after netizens criticized their discriminatory job post that went viral.

The now deleted post requires applicants to have a “good visual impact,” “weigh proportionate to height,” and “clear complexion,” among others.

On Facebook, the management of Potato Corner apologized and issued the following statement:

“A MESSAGE TO THE POTATO CORNER COMMUNITY

We at Potato Corner had an embarrassing moment over the weekend, involving a well-meaning but inappropriate job posting being released. So we hope to set things right.

Our values are all about diversity and inclusion, and true to the experience that we offer, we believe in celebrating the uniqueness that each individual brings.

Discriminatory hiring is not something we support or condone, and not aligned to who we are. We’re all about providing equal opportunities for all, and giving fair recognition and reward to effort, attitude, potential, and creating positive outcomes.

It may have been amusing for some, but we in fact are taking this seriously. We deeply regret the incident and we’re reviewing our procedures, teaming up with our valued business partners, franchisees and suppliers to make sure that situations like this won’t happen again. So that whatever we say and do at Potato Corner reflects our values.

We remain committed to fostering an environment and society where every single person gets a fair chance to contribute and succeed.

Thank you for your support and understanding, and we will always strive to provide positive flavorful moments to all.”
